Meet Rob Starr, Class of 2025

Rob Starr

Name: Rob Starr
Hometown: From Virginia Beach, Virginia, and currently residing in Carroll County
Branch of Service: U.S. Coast Guard
Agricultural Technology Achievements: Rob was highly successful as a student in the program and was recognized with the following awards and accolades:

  • Summa Cum Laude in recognition of a GPA higher than 3.8
  • Scholarly achievement award for achieving the highest GPA in the program
  • Outstanding Senior award for all around excellence
  • College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Champion Award for pursuing education to achieve dreams and personal aspirations
  • College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Deans Scholar in recognition of achieving a 4.0 GPA 

After graduation:  Rob is serving as an assistant superintendent at High Meadows Golf and Country Club in Roaring Gap, North Carolina

Meet Rob Greigg, Class of 2024

Name: Rob Greigg
Hometown: Martinsville, Virginia
Branch of Service:  Army - Rob served in the National Guard while completing his studies in Agricultural Technology.
Agricultural Technology Achievements: Rob was highly successful as a student in the program and was recognized with the following awards and accolades:

  • Cum Laude in recognition of a GPA between 3.4-3.5999
  • Agricultural Technology Ut Prosim Award winner to recognize his service to the program and broader community including serving as a student ambassador, peer mentor, and the Turfgrass Club at VT. 
  • College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Champion Award for pursuing education to achieve dreams and personal aspirations

Instructor Jon Dickerson stated, “Rob did a wonderful job on his internship and constantly surprises me with how much he understands about our industry. He is going to be a rockstar employee wherever he goes, and I love having him in class because of how thoughtful he can be both about the content we are learning but also about his classmates.”

After graduation:  Rob is thriving in his career, applying the skills he gained at Virginia Tech to make a difference in the agricultural sector.
