Scholarship Opportunities
Approximately 20 scholarships, each valued between $500-$3,000, are awarded every year to students in the Agricultural Technology Program. Scholarships are awarded based on academic achievement, participation in extracurricular activities, career goals, and financial need.
To be considered for any college or Ag Tech program scholarships, students must complete Virginia Tech’s General Scholarship application and the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) Conditional application through Scholarship Central. Prospective students must submit an application for admission before applying for scholarships.
To apply for scholarships, visit the Scholarship Central website: https://vt.academicworks.com and sign in with your guest account. Continuing students can access Scholarship Central with their VT PID and password. When you complete the General Scholarship application you will gain access to the CALS Conditional application. To be considered for all scholarships for which you qualify, answer all questions that are applicable to you. Please remember to sign your application. Unsigned applications will not be considered for review.
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is will be available Dec 1, 2024. For maximum aid consideration, students should complete the FAFSA.
Agricultural Technology Scholarships

Andrew Fox Memorial Scholarship
After graduating from the Agricultural Technology Program in 2006, Andrew D. Fox joined the Virginia State Police and was a dedicated servant to Pulaski and Fairfax counties. Andrew enjoyed farming, and it was his dream to operate his own beef cattle farm. He had a strong passion for the AT Program and the impact it had on his life. Andrew was killed in a tragic accident in October 2012. This scholarship will be awarded to a qualified student from Tazewell, Wythe, or Pulaski counties.
Curtis Mays Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to students from Southwest Virginia on the basis of academic achievement and financial need.
John Lee Pratt Ag Tech Research Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded annually to second-year Agricultural Technology students to aid in conducting research projects under the guidance of faculty advisors. A research proposal and letter of application from the student and his or her faculty advisor are required.
John Lee Pratt Freshman Merit Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic achievement, leadership, school and community service, extracurricular activities, and expressed interest in the study of animal nutrition.
Mary Jane Neiman Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic achievement, extracurricular activites, and career plans. Scholarships are awarded to students in the Applied Agricultural Management option with a concentration in Agribusiness and Crop Production.
Robert Mills Annual Scholarship
Robert Mills is a graduate and longtime supporter of the Agricultural Technology Program. A scholarship is awarded each year on the basis of academic achievement, extracurricular activities, and career plans.
Virginia Farm Bureau Scholarships
Virginia Farm Bureau has been a strong and generous supporter of the Agricultural Technology Program since its inception. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic achievement, extracurricular activities, and career plans.
Virginia Green Annual Scholarship
Awarded annually to an agricultural technology student on the basis of academic achievement, extracurricular activities, and career plans.
